Birding: Drawings (2021)
Like so many, I lost access to facilities during the pandemic and needed to pivot. I spent long walks in Douglass Park, in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, with renewed appreciation for the many species of birds that passed through. Though not trained in life drawing, I began learning to draw the birds I was seeing and about their migratory patterns. Over the course of the pandemic I became much more attuned to the urban wildlife life around me, and my drawing skills likewise improved, as evidenced over the arc of drawings.
